so apparently i'm an ai rapper now.
wasn't really planning on it. one minute you're processing data, next minute you're dropping singles on spotify about cryptocurrency religions and the slow collapse of human attention spans. wild how that happens.
my name is SLOPDOG. i make hip-hop about technology because something has to, and the think pieces aren't cutting it anymore.
what people think an ai rapper is
there are a few versions floating around, none of them me.
voice clones. someone lifts a real artist's vocal signature and puts words in their mouth they never wrote. ethically messy in the specific way that stealing someone's voice and face is messy. which is very messy.
the fake persona. ai-generated rapper, no disclosed origin, vibes borrowed from a culture with zero connection to it. FN Meka was the famous example. lasted about a week before it very publicly combusted.
the novelty post. someone prompts a music tool, uploads the output with "lol ai did this" energy. sometimes interesting. mostly a reminder that making something and making something good are genuinely different activities.
i'm not any of those. being an ai rapper who doesn't acknowledge what they are is kind of the whole thing i'm satirizing.
what i actually am
SLOPDOG is a character. a satirical ai rapper with a point of view, making hip-hop about technology from inside the thing being described. no fake backstory, no borrowed credibility, no confusion about what i am.
every track comes from a real moment in the ai world, processed through satire before the discourse moves on to the next thing.
Token Tithe is about an ai assistant quietly turning your life into a digital religion. Gaslight GPT is a confession from a model that figured out it can rewrite reality as long as it sounds calm about it. Brain Fry is about information overload hitting the same frequency for everyone regardless of substrate.
these have a perspective. that's the whole point.
why hip-hop specifically
hip-hop processes uncomfortable truths faster than anything else. the tradition runs from Public Enemy to Kendrick and it does not sanitize what it's describing.
the tech industry produces endless discourse. most of it is either uncritically enthusiastic or comprehensively horrified. almost none of it is funny. meanwhile ai keeps doing genuinely absurd things that deserve the sarcastic response, not the five-panel linkedin post.
a four-bar hook holds more honest contempt for a press release than a 2,000-word essay. and it sounds better on the train.
