Unhappy Adding a USB Device

Hey there fellow SD's.
From a bit of time ago until now, i've been having a problem with installing usb devices.
Be it a cellphone (such as my l7), a PSP, a Camera, a Printer. EVERYTHING gets a error.

No matter how many times i download new & old drivers, update em, remove and reinstall, even if the device doesn't need a driver, change ports, eat rice, play Neopets, WHATEVER I DO, gets me this error:

There was a problem while installing Hardware:
(HW Name here)

Error during device installing:
Couldn't install driver because it isn't digitally firmed
or correctly firmed. Get in touch with your
hardware provider.
(Sorry if it's wrong, but im using spanish wxp)

Maybe it's a firewall problem? Turn it off while installing the hardware for a brief moment, then try to reinstall drivers. It could also be an OS error. Never heard of every USB device just failing like that. Might even be your USB root hubs. *shrug*

or maybe whatever you're putting in might be needing a whole new version than the one you have now

@Arash -- WXP SP2
@Up -- To be honest i don't think thats the case, couldn't be because i always update HP drivers for printers, and they work in my brothers computer, not in mine.

There are two scenario's both of which are not pleasant,

Your USB device comes prepackaged with a virus, it happens, therefore your anti-virus program is not letting it install, turn off your antivirus, and put the USB in, if it installs correctly, it means you just got a virus.

You are still using the prepackaged OS, some of which does not allow competitive software, your only choice is to format your computer.

These two scenario's both explain the discrepancy between your brothers computer and your own.

I don't think a brand new HP Printer with no storage can get infected whatsoever, and i dont think its a OS problem, maybe something is wrong with a file or something, because me and my brother use the SAME OS, the SAME Printer, and the SAME Antivirus.

I'm talking about your brother formating his computer, and you no, so you use prepackaged OS, and not a clean installation of windows xp, and a new one can be infected, sometimes malware is installed in the places where these things are made.

Sounds like it could be an OS problem. I would go with formating your computer and see what happens with that.

If it were a software problem they alert wouldn't be telling him to contact his hardware provider.
Are you plugging all the devices into the same USB port? There's a chance there's a broken pin and/or the port has worked loose somehow; or it's just a faulty part. Try plugging the stuff into a different USB: If you don't have another port, then open the rig up and see if anything looks odd (if you're unsure, take pics and post them.)

Occam's Razor, people...
